Kalamazoo Public Safety Launches New Website

Kalamazoo, MI: Kalamazoo Public Safety is pleased to announce that a new website has been developed for the department. The website is set to “go live” today, Monday, January 10, 2011.

Kalamazoo Public Safety relies heavily on the exchange of information between officers and residents, business owners, property owners and visitors of the City of Kalamazoo. The new website has been designed to maximize communication so that public safety personnel can be as responsive as possible in our effort to meet the needs of the people we serve.

“The goal of our new website is to provide timely and accurate information to the public, and, perhaps even more importantly, to receive information and feedback from the public. Because it increases our opportunity to communicate with the people we serve, we believe that the new website will enhance our ability to provide excellent police, fire, and emergency medical services,” said Chief Jeff Hadley.

The new website project started many months ago when Kalamazoo neighborhood leaders were invited to provide input about what they believed was needed to create a “virtual public safety headquarters”. Ideas that came from that meeting and are included in new site are:

• E-Mail alert subscriptions that allow people to receive daily updates on crimes in their neighborhood.
• Enhanced neighborhood based mapping for crimes and daily calls for service.
• Newsletter subscriptions.
• Individual neighborhood pages maintained by the Community Policing Unit.
• Expanding the community policing model to the on-line community.

The new Kalamazoo Public Safety website is: Public Safety encourages people to visit the website often for information regarding such things as crime stats, fire prevention information, information about divisions and specialty units within Kalamazoo Public Safety, announcements, dates for upcoming events including neighborhood and “town hall” meetings, alerts regarding criminal activity, and news releases. The website also provides citizens with multiple ways to contact the department to provide information or feedback or to report criminal activity or other public safety concerns.

Please visit us at We look forward to a new level of collaboration between our officers and the citizens of Kalamazoo.
