The City of Federal Way and South King Fire & Rescue are hosting a FREE Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class series February 2nd through March 26th and Des Moines residents are invited to attend.

This fast-paced, hands-on, 25 hour course is delivered over eight consecutive weeks and is facilitated by a team of Fire, Medical and City professionals. The course curriculum focuses on saving lives and protecting property immediately following a disaster.

CERT training classes are held once each week for 8 weeks and are typically in the evening, 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The class ends on a Saturday with a practical skills drill typically from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Class locations vary - participants will be notified once confirmed.

The CERT course curriculum includes the following subject areas:

Disaster Preparedness & Hazard Identification Team Organization Disaster Fire Suppression Disaster Medical Operations (I and II) Light Search and Rescue Operations Disaster Psychology Damage Assessment Practice Drill and Graduation

Spaces are limited and regstation is required!
