Mayor Zimmer Calls For Emergency Special Meeting Of City Council
Mayor Dawn Zimmer has called for an Emergency Special Meeting of the Hoboken City Council to consider the authorization of Temporary Appropriations for Calendar Year 2011. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 10, 2011 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
At the Wednesday, January 5th Council meeting, the City Council failed to approve a temporary budget for 2011, leaving the City unable to authorize its payroll obligations which must be financially obligated on or before Tuesday, January 11.
"Our employees work hard for the City of Hoboken, and it is our responsibility to make sure that they are paid and that our City continues to operate effectively," said Mayor Dawn Zimmer.
Passage of a temporary budget at the beginning of a new budget year is standard municipal practice. The Administration plans to introduce a proposed budget in early February for consideration by the Council.
