Please be aware of phone scams telling you that you won a sweepstakes or lottery. Pleasant Hills residents have been getting calls from an 876 area code telling them they have won the "Publisher's Clearing House" sweepstakes and for them to send money via Western Union in order to get their winnings. The 876 area code is in Jamaica. While this area code is legitimate, there may be some numbers that carry additional charges and fees when calls are placed or received. BEWARE!! There MAY BE hefty surcharges on your phone bill whether you accept the call or call the person back who is perpetuating the scam from the 876 area code.
