Benicia Police Conduct Alcohol Sting - No Citations

During the early evening hours of December 15, 2010, detectives from the Benicia Police Department conducted
an Alcohol Compliancy Check in the City of Benicia. The checks were conducted at businesses which sell alcoholic
beverages. A minor decoy was provided by Solano County Friday Night Live and was sent into nine
(9) stores in an attempt to purchase an alcoholic beverage. The Benicia Police Department partnerships with
Friday Night Live two to four times a year to conduct these stings. Compliancy checks are funded and sponsored
by the Solano County Board of Supervisors Reducing Rates Coalition.

"We were satisfied to see that none of the nine clerks sold to our minor decoy," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "The clerks's
either swiped the decoy's drivers license to verify their age or simply looked at their date of birth and determined they were
under 21. The clerks's then denied the sale, which is the result we were looking for."

The nine locations visited were:

Rose Food Market, 2064 Columbus Parkway Rite Aid, 60 Solano Sq.
Raley's, 890 Southampton Road 7-11, 500 Military East
Fast & Easy on East 5th St., 1500 E. 5th St 76 Station, 505 Military East
Liquor Warehouse, 457 Military East
Chevron Gas Station, 10 Solano Sq.
Safeway, 50 Solano Sq.

"The Benicia Police Department continues to be committed to conducting alcohol compliancy checks as one of our strategies to reduce the available of alcohol to minors," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "Our goal is to always get 100% compliance from Benicia businesses."
