Female Victim Shot During Home Invasion

Early Tuesday Morning December 7th, 2010 at 4:00 AM St. Clair County Cencom received a 9-1-1 call about a female being shot while in her residence in the 2400 block of White Street, unincorporated Cahokia, IL. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy Paul Pozsgay responded and arrived within ten minutes. He found a 51 year old female shot in her leg. MedStar Ambulance arrived and provided EMS.

The female victim stated she was asleep in her bedroom, with her boyfriend, when she heard a loud noise, then the sound of their bed room door being kicked in and then a subject entered her bedroom. The subject told her to “lay back down” and then he shot her in the leg. The subject then turned around and ran from the residence. The female did not recognize the subject. There were three other adults in the residence when this occurred. One of the adults left prior to the Deputy’s arrival.

MedStar transported the victim to a St. Louis Area Hospital. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services responded and processed the scene. A 9mm spent shell casing was located in the bedroom.

The shooting/home invasion is being investigated by Inv. Gerald Brown. If anyone has any information about this crime please contact him at 618-277-3504 x5309 or St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers at the Tip Hotline: 866-371-8477 (may receive up to a $1,000.00 reward for information).
