Stay safe and enjoy the spirit of the season! Remember to stay aware, park smart, and drive safely.
Tis the season for giving......and taking.
Holiday shopping crowds also bring an increase in crime. Consider these steps to keep your holiday shopping season safe. We wish you and your family a joyous season!
Stay aware.
It’s easy to be distracted by all the lights and sales! Know where you are and where you parked. Be alert to “distraction theft” by watching for pairs of people who might try to distract, then steal from you.
Park smart.
Park your vehicle in a well-lit area. Always lock your vehicle. Have your keys in your hand before you get to the car. Look under the vehicle and to the sides as you approach then lock yourself in once inside.
Keep your purse/wallet with you.
Do not leave your purse or wallet in your car or in a shopping bag: carry it with you! Men should consider carrying their wallet in their front pocket; women should hold their purse close to their bodies. Don't leave purses hanging on chairs while seated in restaurants.
Take care with credit cards and cash.
Don’t show large rolls of money in public, you could make yourself a target. Spread it out- put it in several different places or pockets. When using credit cards, keep the face/numbers hidden while waiting in line to pay. And don’t forget to take it with you after you’ve made your purchase!
Keep an eye on children.
Children can be easily lost in a crowd. Know where they are at all times. With older children, set regular check-in times.
Make several trips.
Make several trips to the car to avoid carrying a bunch of items at once, making you vulnerable. If you need assistance with large packages, ask a sales clerk to escort you. Lock purchases out of sight or in the trunk.
Drive safely.
With all the hustle and bustle of the season, you may be in a hurry. So is everyone else! Avoid accidents by driving slowly, particularly in high traffic areas where shoppers may be walking! Most importantly, don't mix drinking and driving.
Enjoy a Safe and Happy Holiday Season !!!!
