Citizens should be alert to attempted scams particularly over the holidays. Would be thieves are knocking on doors claiming to be from a service providers (water department, cable provider, utility companies, etc). The suspects then indicate they need to enter the home to check for problems. Once inside the home they find a way to distract the homeowner and steal items from the home.



Do not open your doors unless you are absolutely certain the person is who they say they are. Citizens can always call the service provider and they will be able to verify if someone from the company was sent to your home.
