The Sheriff's Department is offering the following safety tips so you can have a fun and safe Halloween.

• Try to trick or treat before it gets dark.
• Always have an adult go around trick or treating with the children.
• Go trick or treating in groups.
• Wear reflective costumes and carry flashlights.
• Keep costumes short to prevent trips and falls.
• Make sure children can see and breathe well in their masks.
• Accept treats at the door; do not go inside a stranger’s house.
• Do not let children eat candy without checking it first.
• Drive slowly and be aware the streets are swarming with children.
