Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

Mark Ward, 08-29-1963, Age 47, Nevada resident.

On October 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., Newport Beach Police Officers responded to the 2600 block of San Joaquin Hills Rd. regarding a domestic violence call. Prior to the arrival of the officers, suspect Mark Ward (estranged husband) fled from the location. Because there were four schools in that vicinity, and the fact that we had not gathered all of the details regarding the crime or suspect, the schools (Lincoln Elementary, Harbor Day, Newport Center Methodist, and Pacific Shores) were notified. School Officials elected to “lockdown” the schools as a precautionary measure.

After completing a thorough investigation, it was determined that the severity of the crime warranted a want on Mark Ward for Attempted Murder.

On October 22, 2010 at 9:44 a.m., Newport Beach Dispatch received a call in the 2600 block of Lighthouse Lane regarding a suspicious male subject hiding behind a BBQ in a backyard. Upon arrival to the area, a Newport Beach Police Officer found Mark Ward hiding on a nearby hillside. Ward was arrested without incident.

Anyone with information regarding the listed suspect should contact the Newport Beach Police Department at (800) 550-NBPD. The public is encouraged to call with any information, and messages can be left anonymously, if desired.
