Charges filed in weekend homicide
This morning the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office filed charges in this past weekend’s homicide at 3013 18th Avenue South.
At 2:15 a.m. on Sunday October 17th patrol officers in the Third Precinct responded to a report of a dead person at the above address. When officers arrived they found the body of an adult male, later identified as Leo Daniel Kohorst, on a couch. Kohorst had significant trauma to his head. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner determined that Kohorst died as a result of a homicide.
Investigators from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit were able to identify a suspect. That suspect, Adam Lee Sterling (Date of birth 4-7-1987) was taken into custody later Sunday evening and is presently in the Hennepin County Jail. As a result of that investigation and arrest this morning the Hennepin County Attorney’s office charged Sterling with:
· Murder in the Second Degree (Intentional) (Felony) 609.19 Subd. 1(1); 609.11
Minneapolis Police Department homicide investigators Sergeants Robert Dale and Chris Granger worked in conjunction with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office to ensure charging in this case.
