DPD Wireless Camera System

ASIS International, an organization representing security specialists around the world, will be having its annual conference in Dallas from October 12-15, 2010 at the Dallas Convention Center. As part of the ASIS gathering, a special pre-conference tour involving some 100 ASIS members will take place on Monday, October 11, 2010 to view the Dallas police department’s wireless camera system.

This recently updated camera system, one of the largest networks of its kind in the nation, gives the department the ability to watch for and address crime issues in various sections of the city. Much of the work behind this system was due to the collaborative efforts of the West End Association and Downtown Dallas, Inc.

Dallas-area media representatives are welcome to view the system as well during the ASIS visit. Media representatives wanting to see the system are asked to meet at level L1 (near the blue elevator doors) at Dallas city hall at 1:45 pm on Monday, October 11, 2010. A police communications representative will escort media representatives on the tour.

The police contact for this tour is Lieutenant Ben Nabors, Dallas police communications - 214-671-8282.

Local media members wishing to cover the conference itself can go to the ASIS website - http://www.asisonline.org/education/programs/noframe/2010seminar/press/pressfaqs.html - for information on credentials.
