Benicia Police Investigate Burglary and Sexual Assault

Benicia Police Detectives are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred after a break in at a Benicia resident. No arrests have been made at this time and police are following a number of leads to solve the case.

On Friday, October 1st, shortly after 10 pm, Benicia police received a report that a 20 year old Benicia woman had been sexually assaulted in her home after four subjects had gained entry to her home on the 400 block of Lansing Circle. The woman told officers that four subjects had entered her home and then came across the woman once inside. While three of the subjects looted the home of jewelry and electronics, one of the suspects sexually assaulted the woman. The suspects fled the home and the area prior to police arrival.

"We believe this was not a random act," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "Our detectives are following up a number of leads. Although we can't comment specifically at this time, we don't believe our community in general is at danger of another attack by this group."
