Mayor Hivner,

The following is the report for the Shillington Police Department for the month of August, 2010.
General Information:
• The department handled 1092 incidents
• 97 arrests were made: 44 Crimes Code violations, 28 Vehicle Code violations, 25 parking violations
Incidents of Special Note:
• 15 Incidents of theft from vehicles
• 4 Thefts of personal property
• 10 Domestic dispute investigations
• 11 Cases of vandalism
• 15 Motor vehicle accidents
• The Detective is working on several drug investigations. There has been a noticeable increase in illegal drug activity though out the Borough.
• An arrest has been made in the theft from vehicle cases. The actor was responsible for approximately 25 thefts from vehicles in Shillington. The investigation continues as it is suspect additional subjects are involved.
• The department participated in a joint training exercise with Cumru Township PD. Officers from both departments took part in active shooter training at the Governor Mifflin High School.
• The speed board was utilized in the Borough Park in an effort to slow vehicle traffic in the area of the pool.
• Officers provided extra patrol in the area of the schools on opening day. The senior parade caused minimal problems
• I have acquired pedestrian traffic control devices which will be placed on East Lancaster Avenue at State Street, Wheatland Avenue, and Mifflin Blvd after the paving project is complete.
• All officers are working extremely hard to provide excellent police service to the residents of Shillington. The department continues to experience strain due to lack of manpower.
• The department thanks the Shillington Fire Police for their assistance with a triathlon event in the park on 8-7-10.
