Out of State Wanted Parolee Captured in Florence
On September 4, 2010 at approximately 1:15 pm Florence Police Officer Len Larson spotted a white male adult hitchhiking southbound on Hwy at 35th Street who appeared to match the description of a wanted subject out of Idaho.
When the officer stopped and made contact with the man, Grove initially gave false information about his identity. With the information provided by Idaho Dept. of Corrections, the officer was able to identify him and place him under arrest without incident for violation of parole out of Idaho.
The Idaho Dept. of Corrections had previously distributed wanted posters throughout Oregon law enforcement agencies seeking local law enforcement to be on the look out to arrest Earl Nelson Grove Jr, 45 years if located for absconding from parole. The wanted posters had photographs of Grove along with other identifying information, along with warnings for law enforcement to approach with caution as the subject had a history of violence. He had been last seen hitchhiking on 09-02-10 just south of Newport, Oregon.
Grove was listed as a High Risk Sexual Offender as he had been sentenced to Life for the rape of an elderly Alzheimers patient in a nursing home in Idaho, but was paroled in 2009. He is also suspect in a Rape in King City, Oregon. Grove was lodged in the Florence City Jail and later transported to Lane County Adult Corrections.
