Take preparations seriously, the time is now to prepare for weekend storm

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service has indicated that although the MidCoast area of
Maine will experience a weaker side of Hurricane Earl, there will still be winds at gusts of up to 35 miles
per hour and heavy rain, up to 2 inches over night Friday into Saturday morning. Everyone should be
preparing for this storm by considering the following:
72 hour kits

–-Enough food, water, medications, dry clothes, and radios for up to three days, Considerations for pets and animals

–-72 hours worth of food, water, medications, and shelter.
Stay away from rocks and cliffs that are affected by large waves and surf. Please do not risk being swept
out by a wave that will be produced by the storms passage as
early as today.

Power outage and generator usage, please be sure to follow
manufacturer’s instructions, place the generator outside in a well ventilated area to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
Outdoor cooking grills are designed for outside usage please use grills, camp cook stoves, and portable burners outside and in a well ventilated area.

Those on oxygen should consider consulting with their supplier to ensure they have enough stock available to them through a power outage when concentrators cannot be used.

–-Special attention to the predicted waves and current, moving your vessels to safe harbors if they cannot be removed from the water or removing vessels is recommended.

--Secure outdoor items now before the storm hits to avoid damage to those items and your home

--Listen carefully to the weather as reported by the TV media. Your local Emergency Managers are working closely with first responders in your town to ensure they are prepared for the storm. Area community based shelters are on standby to be opened as necessary, a complete listing will be supplied
upon opening.
