Earl remains a category four and appears to be tracking as predicted; minimal rain fall is expected. 
Hurricane Earl remains a category four storm with winds of 135mph moving west-northwest at 14mph. All indications are that current strength will remain for next 24 hours and then begin to weaken with cooler waters and increased shear.
Forecasted track will continue to move in same general direction until Thursday and will be picked up and move quickly north-northeast staying just offshore (200-250 miles) of North Carolina by Friday evening. There is a VERY slight risk that this storm may hit the southern NC shore but all indications are that it is moving as predicted.
Impacts: Earl will be more of an impact the farther North you go in the state.
Northeast North Carolina: Tropical Storm force winds with coastal flooding, minor storm surge and sound side flooding. Minimal rain (1-2 inches)is expected in southeastern North Carolina with winds 20-30 mph which will experience minor coastal flooding, no surge and very little rain.
