Suspect Drives Stolen Truck From Texas to Georgia
On 08-31-10 Officer Scott Adams, Villa Rica Police Department, saw a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on I-20 with a cracked windshield. Officer Adams stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as John Weaver, 52 years of age, from La Marque Texas.
Weaver gave the officer a Texas Criminal Justice Offender card when asked for his driver’s license. He later admitted that his driver’s license was suspended since 1981. Officer Adams checked the registration and found that the truck had been reported stolen from La Marque Texas. It was also discovered that the Offender Card from Texas had an incorrect date of birth and social security number.
Weaver told Officer Adams that he had permission from the owner to drive the truck. Then one night he got intoxicated and woke up in Louisiana. He then just continued to drive the truck east. When asked what he intended to do with the truck, Weaver answered “Drive it until I was caught”.
Weaver was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Theft by Bringing Stolen Property Into This State, Possession of a False ID Card, Suspended License, and Cracked Windshield.
Weaver also is wanted in Florida for Burglary and Forgery and in Texas for Felony Theft. Weaver is currently being held at the Douglas Co Jail.
