Date/Type of Incident: Suspect arrested 8-27-10/Possession of Child Pornography.
Suspect: Polini, Mark Ryan, 27 yoa, San Jose Resident.
Details: Polini, a San Jose resident, had originally been arrested by Atascadero Police for impersonating a police officer on 7-19-10 after he was seen driving a mock unmarked police car.
Subsequent to his arrest and release on bond, detectives were able to determine Polini had been in possession of stolen property. Polini was arrested for receiving stolen property when he arrived at a court proceeding for the initial charges on August 2, 2010.
Pursuant to a search warrant, two laptop computers found inside Polini’s mock police vehicle were forensically analyzed with the assistance of the San Luis Obispo County Sherriff’s Office. A digital file containing over 1,900 images of child pornography was discovered on one of the two computers.
APD detectives consulted with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office. An arrest warrant was obtained for Polini on August 27, 2010. Detectives traveled to Polini’s current place of residence in the 2200 block of Tulip Road, San Jose, and arrested him without incident. Polini was transported and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
