SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

An investigation is underway after deputies were involved in a shooting today, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
Three Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputies were attempting to serve a drug warrant, at 12:10 p.m., at a residence located at 1319 Shady Grove Road, Boaz, when the individual inside the residence pointed a gun at them.
Shots were fired, at 12:18 p.m., by the deputies, who then pulled away from the residence to call for backup.
The Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG) was called to assist. When JSOG made entry to the residence, the individual was found dead.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and Alabama Department of Forensic Science are on scene to lead the investigation.
Other agencies who responded to the scene were: Alabama State Troopers, Sardis Police Department, Boaz Police Department, Gadsden Police Department, Walnut Grove Police Department and Mountainboro Volunteer Fire Department.
