Police seek public’s help to identify suspect in attempted kidnapping

August 26, 201O (MINNEAPOLIS) This afternoon the Minneapolis Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a man who was involved in the attempted kidnapping of a child last Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4 pm on August 22nd patrol officers in the Third Precinct responded to a 911 call that a man had attempted kidnap a 10 year old girl near Powderhorn Park. Police responded to an address where the girl had run to seeking help. She told officers that she had been walking in an alley near the park when a white male in his 30’s drove by her in a newer gold SUV. The vehicle then came back around the block and through the alley stopping near her. The male then yelled at the girl to get in his SUV and when she did not do so the suspect reached out through the driver’s window and tried to grab the girl. She was able to run away.

The girl told investigators that the suspect is a white male, probably in his thirties, with a medium complexion, a lighter to medium build, wearing glasses and that he had a beard and mustache. His vehicle is described as a newer gold SUV or crossover, similar to a Nissan Murano.

Anyone who can identify this suspect or can provide any information about this case is asked to call the TIPS line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
