Harper Woods Police surveillance officers observed a suspicious vehicle cruising the south end of the city this morning around 9:00am. Officers checked the license plate through the computer system and discovered it had been taken in a carjacking in Detroit on August 17, 2010.

Officers followed the vehicle, a red 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, to Moross where the vehicle pulled to a curb and the driver began walking away from the car. Harper Woods officers detained the suspect at gunpoint until uniform patrol officers arrived on scene. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect is being held on felony armed robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicles charges without bond. He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
