Crime Log August 13-20

Stealing from Auto
During the overnight hours on August 14th, a vehicle was broken into and items taken from the interior, while the vehicle was parked in the 19xx block of Des Peres Road. The theft occurred while the owner of the vehicle attended a party on an adjacent street. The owner of the vehicle reported stereo speakers missing from the vehicle, and that the vehicle’s interior was damaged enough to make the vehicle unable to be driven from the scene.

Property Damage
A vehicle’s tires were damaged in the 13xx block of Topping Road during the early morning hours of August 16th. The resident reported that it appeared an individual used a knife to slash 2 tires on his vehicle.

Stolen/Missing Cell Phone
On August 13th, an individual reported that her cell phone was either lost or stolen while she shopped at 1160 Town and Country Crossings. The victim stated she used her cell phone while in the store, and after returning home realized the phone was missing. The victim returned to the store, but the phone could not be located.

Stealing from Auto
Between 930pm on August 16th and 7am on August 17th, 10 unlocked vehicles were entered and their interior’s rummaged through while parked on Kirken Knoll Drive. One victim reported her tennis bag and tennis equipment was missing from her vehicle.

Recovered Stolen Auto
On August 14th, a vehicle on fire was reported on the shoulder of eastbound 64 near I-270. The reporting party stated that after the burning vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the roadway, the driver began running eastbound along I64. After officers arrived on the scene of the fire, it was determined that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in St. Louis City on August 8th. A short time later the suspect was spotted on South 40 Drive, just west of I270, running towards Missouri Baptist Hospital. Missouri Baptist Hospital employees stated the suspect eventually entered the hospital and stole scrubs in an attempt to change his appearance. The suspect was seen entering a Metro Bus near the hospital grounds, however when officers approached the bus the suspect resisted arrest and ran from the scene. The suspect was taken into custody on the shoulder of southbound 270 near Clayton Road. The suspect, Anthony Thornton, was charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, 3 counts of Resisting Arrest, and 2 counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
