HOME INVASION SUSPECT IDENTIFIED THROUGH FINGERPRINTS

While the Harper Woods Police Department continues to investigate a series of home invasions that have occurred in our city, we did receive some good news on the identity of a suspect involved in a 2007 home invasion. Harper Woods detectives investigate every crime that occurs in our community. Part of that investigation includes a through exanimation of the crime scene and collection of evidence whenever possible.

Harper Woods detectives collected fingerprint evidence in the 2007 home invasion and submitted them to the nationwide fingerprint identification system. We did not receive a response on the prints until this month when we arrested a man on felony assault charges. The automated system checked the prints we submitted two years ago and sent us a response along with the identity of the suspect we were looking for.

As a result, we will be submitting a warrant request to the prosecutor’s office requesting charges be brought against the suspect we have identified. Harper Woods officers are actively working on the apprehension of the suspects involved in the current rash of home invasions.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harper Woods Police.
