NNO celebrated in Minneapolis tonight! Watch out for your neighbors and make every night a "Night Out"!
National Night Out is celebrated tonight. National Night Out is an annual nationwide event that encourages residents to get out in the community, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. It is a great way to promote community-police partnerships and enjoy a Minnesota summer evening with friends and family. There are 1,133 events registered in Minneapolis, but it is not too late to invite your neighbors to gather for an ice cream social or ice tea and lemonade. The evening is about meeting and connecting with neighbors. If you live in Minneapolis, you can check out the list of events that is available on-line at: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno/events-list.asp .
This year, Mayor R. T. Rybak is encouraging block clubs and neighbors to not only get together on National Night Out, but to make a commitment to connect and keep their neighborhoods safe year-round.
You can help spread the word with “Make Every Night National Night Out” flyers that can be printed and distributed to folks in your neighborhood.
The flyers encourage folks to do their part to help keep their neighborhood safe by becoming block club leaders, staying informed about city and police news, and communicating with the city and police when there are livability and safety issues in their neighborhood. The flyer is available at: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno/docs/everynightNNO.pdf
