Advisory

CROWN FIRE - Comprehensive update, road closures, and important website links.

Assistant Fire Chief Luke Claus, Los Angeles County Fire Department, said, "We are still maintaining an effort to ensure that all active fires are extinguisehd within 100 feet of the perimeter of the fire. Fire department structure protection groups are in place to respond to threats to homes and structures.

With the winds and very hot and dry conditions, we are remaining very vigilent in watching over the current fires, as well as watching out for possible new fires."

Lieutenant Ken Wright, Incident Commander, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, said, "With the increasing stabilization of the fire situation and reduced likelihood of emergent evacuations, the deployment of Sheriff's Department response teams from sheriff's stations outside the Antelope Valley is being scaled back. Three Sheriff's Department teams remain deployed to assist fire assets as needed.

There have been no arrests and the cooperation of the public has been exemplary. Sheriff's personnel from distant stations have reported a warm welcome by area residents who expressed appreciation as they delivered cold water, pizza and popsicles."

Palmdale Sheriff's Station Captain Bobby Denham expressed his appreciation to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and fire fighting personnel from across the state. "Cooperation between fire personnel; law enforcement; other allied public service personnel, including Palmdale's Office of Public Safety; and the public all contributed to getting a handle on the fire in a timely manner."

Captain Denham was also appreciative, but not surprised, by the cooperation given by residents who have demonstrated a great community spirit during this and past incidents.
