The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday August 3, 2010 from 6 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Algonquin Township Substation. Various events have been planned throughout the night.
All communities of McHenry County are invited to attend this family oriented event. Free food which includes, hot dogs, donuts, and pop will be provided to those in attendance. The Sheriff’s Office will have current squads, equipment, MARV, and vehicles from the Algonquin Township on display. Various services will also be offered:
information on neighborhood watch, crime prevention materials, child passenger safety information, and electronic fingerprinting ID system for children. Both Sheriff’s Office K9 units are scheduled for 6:30 P.M. demonstration.
The Sheriff’s Office has also teamed up with C.A.R.S. in Miniature Model Car Club to provide youth with the opportunity to build a model squad car. Youth between the ages of 8-14 are encouraged to participate and are required to have a parent or relative accompany them. We have approximately 22 spaces available for this event, and this project will take about 1 ½ hours to complete. There is no cost to participate, and youth will be able to take the model squad home with them. Those wishing to sign up prior to the event can contact Cathy (815)334-4739.
National Night Out (NNO) is celebrated annually the first Tuesday of August. The goal of NNO is to promote crime prevention and safety programs, strengthen police-community partnerships, and encourage neighborhood camaraderie in hopes for a safer McHenry County and America. NNO “America’s Night Against Crime” began in 1984 and is celebrated in all 50 states.
The Sheriff’s Office thanks: Algonquin Township Road District, TOPS Kennels, and C.A.R.S. in Miniature Model Car Club, Pepsi, Aramark, Golden Eagle Community Bank, Wal-Mart of Algonquin, and Country Donuts for making this event possible.
