Garland County Drowning

At approximately 11:30am today, Garland County dispatchers received a call of a possible drowning on Lake Ouachita. Officer's from the Sheriff's Office, Arkansas Game and Fish and Arkansas State Parks responded to an area south of Point 50 and east of what's known as Crawdad Island.



Officer's learned that the victim, Phillip Aguillard, a 31 year old male from Louisiana who was on vacation with his family at the State Park, had been fishing on the bank. When family members returned to the area where he had been fishing, they could only locate his fishing pole and sunglasses.



Initial officer's on the scene noticed a six-person dive group in the area and learned that they were a volunteer dive team out of Monroe, La.. Utilizing the volunteer dive team, which consisted of at least two law enforcement officers from the Monroe area, responding officers were able to locate and recover the body of Mr. Aguillard at approximately 1:00pm. The depth, visibility or exact area where Mr. Aguillard was located is unknown.
