NARRATIVE:
On Saturday evening July 17th, 2010 at 6:05 PM, Walnut Creek Police, Consolidated Fire Department and AMR Paramedics responded to a report of an injury accident on eastbound Treat Blvd west of Bancroft. It was determined that a pick-up truck traveling eastbound lost control, crossed the median into westbound lanes then steered back across eastbound lanes, jumped the curb line and struck a pedestrian. The vehicle came to rest against a large pine tree. The pedestrian was treated at the scene for her injuries and transported to JMMC where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck was arrested at the scene for DUI he was later taken to county hospital where he was treated for his injuries and booked into county jail on charges including vehicular manslaughter.
The pedestrian was a white female approximately 55 years old; her name is being withheld pending notifications. The investigation is continuing.
