Traffic Accident Injures Two Pedestrians in Benicia

Thursday evening at about 8:20 pm, Benicia Police Officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Military West and West 2nd Street.

Two juveniles, a 14 year old male and a 15 year old female and both Benicia residents, were struck by a vehicle while crossing northbound in the crosswalk at that location. A third juvenile was walking with the other two but was not struck.

They were struck by a 1997 Ford Aerostar van, traveling westbound and driven by a 49 year old Benicia resident. The driver showed no signs of any type of impairment and later provided a voluntary blood sample.

Benicia PD's specialized Traffic Unit was called to the scene and is investigating the accident. The intersection was shut down for many hours after the incident.

Both victims were transported via ambulance to the Trauma Center at the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

The Benicia Police Department will not be providing updates relative to the condition of the two injured pedestrians
