Martinez Police Department participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run

On June 23rd, members of the Martinez Police Department participated in the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run to help raise funds for Special Olympics Northern California. Representing Law Enforcement, we had the honor of escorting the Special Olympics Torch, the Flame of Hope, through our city as the torch made its way to the site of the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games. Special Olympics provides year round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities for free. However, it is so much more than a sports program. It is training for life, empowering these individuals with self-confidence and self-esteem that carries over into their everyday lives. Currently over 13,000 Special Olympic athletes participate in Special Olympics and our Law Enforcement fundraising efforts play a huge part in making that happen.
