Modesto, CA- Modesto Police homicide detectives are investigating a late night shooting that resulted in one person dead and police looking for help in identifying the suspect(s).

On Sunday June 27th, at about 2329 hours, officers responded to investigate shots being heard and a subject possibly shot in the 1600 block of Vicksburg Avenue. Officers arrived and found a male adult slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The male was deceased and appeared to have suffered from at least one gun shot wound.

The victim is a Hispanic male, but has not yet been identified. The scene in the 1600 block of Vicksburg Avenue was blocked off for approximately five hours while detectives conducted the investigation and documented the crime scene. No suspect information is available at this time.

Investigators are continuing to follow-up on leads and information obtained in the initial investigation. This is the 8th homicide of the year.
