Junior Cadets Set to Graduate

Modesto, CA - The Modesto Police Department’s Police Activities League (PAL) Junior Cadets will be graduating on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Westview Gardens Community Center, located within the Stanislaus County Housing Authority complex at 1701 Robertson Road, Modesto, CA 95351.

This community collaboration mentoring program teaches the boys and girls (ages 10-14) about law enforcement, how to avoid peer pressure to gang and drug lifestyles and promotes positive decision-making skills. The program is in it's sixth year and will graduate 20 students on Tuesday, who have successfully completed the year long course that began in August 2009.

This after-school program teaches law enforcement related curriculum four hours a week with lessons on gang and drug prevention, safety skills and has physical training in a “police academy style” environment. The Junior Cadets earn merit badges through good conduct, school attendance, academics, team work, fairness to others and community service.

The Modesto Police Activities League Junior Cadets program is fully sponsored by the Modesto Police Department, Paradise South Weed & Seed program, Friends of Modesto Police Youth Activities, and the Housing Authority of Stanislaus County.
