Sheriff Robert A. Austino reports that residents turned 64 guns during his third gun buy back, which was held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Vineland. Sheriff Austino said that of the 64 guns turned in, 31 were handguns. One of those handguns had been illegally converted from a .22-caliber rifle. Fifty dollar gift cards for Acme or ShopRite were given for each firearm turned over during the events.
Sheriff Austino spearheaded the three gun buybacks, held over the past three weeks in Millville, Bridgeton and Vineland. A total of 128 guns were turned over, and a total of $6,400 in food gift cards was provided to those who turned in the guns.
