Litchfield residents: there have been several positive results of EEE. Please use caution when outside -Chief O'Brion
Several areas of EEE have been found in town. Please take care when outside- use clothing and sprays for extra protection.
Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) is a mosquito-spread disease of birds, that sometimes is transmitted (via mosquito bite) to horses and people. The risk of serious injury or death is high for those who become sick with the disease. In 2005, New Hampshire led the nation with seven cases and two deaths.
For more information about EEE, go to the New Hampshire Cooperative Extension web site: http://extension.unh.edu/news/EEENH.htm
