Homicide Investigation
Case Number 10-15510
Location: 7200 Blk of US 19, The Shoppes at Park Place

Details:

At 6:19 P.M. Pinellas Park Police Officers and Fire Rescue Paramedics responded to the Shoppes of Park Place near Marshall’s Department Store for an injured person.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in his mid twenties lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics quickly transported the victim to Bayfront Medical Center. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The location of the shooting initially was unknown to officers. Law enforcement received no reports of shots fired or calls from witnesses reporting the shooting. The initial calls were only reporting the injured person.

First responding units located no suspects or signs that a shooting had taken place on mall property. For this reason, stores were not requested to lock down and no evacuation of stores or the parking lot was implemented.

Investigators eventually discovered a vehicle to the rear of the Marshall’s Department Store. The shooting is believed to have occurred near this location. It is believed that the victim walked from the rear of the store to the front area of the store, possibly to summon help.

Investigators have identified the victim; however his identity is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin. A follow up media release will be issued once this notification has been made. It is our hope to release this information later this evening.

No motive or suspect information has been determined at this time.
