Heavy and Large Debris on Lake Hamilton

Due to the heavy rains last night, the Garland County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol and Sheriff Sanders would like to advise everyone that we have heavy, and large, debris on Lake Hamilton, from approximately the “Sand Bar” (near the Hwy 270 West bridge) to around Hill Wheatley Park. This will create a hazardous boating situation for this weekend and possibly for several days into next week. Sheriff Sanders would like to urge everyone to use extreme caution on the lake this weekend, as this debris makes it way down the lake.

Several pictures of the type of debris, including stumps and complete trees, that is moving down the main channel of Lake Hamilton, between the sand bar and Hill Wheatley Park.

Some of the debris has been pushed to the side, due to wave action. As the lake calms and water levels go down, this debris will move back into the main channel and continue down the lake.
