Rape Suspect Apprehended 
On June 8, 2010 at approximately 2:00 pm, an employee at the Sand Pines Golf Course reported a white female adult staggering across the greens near the 7th hole with obvious injuries. The employee transported the female to the parking lot. Prior to Western Lane Ambulance transporting the woman to the hospital for treatment, she reported that her boyfriend had assaulted her at a location in a wooded area north of Sand Pines where their camp was located. Subsequently Florence police officers located this camp and found Billy Eugene Dill, WMA, 52 years, at that location. He was subsequently taken into custody for the assault on the victim.
At the hospital nursing staff advised the investigating officers that the victim reported being sexually assaulted. They learned from the victim that Dill became upset with her for talking with her family on the pay phone while at the Fred Meyer store in Florence. She reported the argument escalated during their walk back at their campsite when Dill struck her numerous times and threatened to kill her. Dill reportedly then raped her while she was on the ground at the campsite. Once able to do so she got up and ran from Dill until she was found on the golf course.
Billy Eugene Dill was subsequently taken to the Florence Justice Center and lodged overnight. Dill was transported the next day to Lane County Jail and charged with Rape I, Assault IV, Menacing, and Physical Harassment. Bail was set in the amount of $25,000.
The name of the rape victim is not being released at this time.
