DATE: June 8, 2010
SUSPECT: Esteban Zuniga, 29, Grover Beach
On June 2, 2010, Esteban Zuniga, 29 of Grover Beach accepted a plea bargain agreement from the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office and pled guilty to one count of False Imprisonment in violation of California Penal Code 236.
Mr. Zuniga was immediately sentenced to three years in prison and turned over to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Zuniga was originally arrested on Wednesday April 28, 2010 at about 11:36 p.m. when the Grover Beach Police Department received a 911 call from a residence in the 700 block of Trouville Ave reporting a burglary in progress. Officers arrived within two minutes of the 911 call in time to see the burglar, Esteban Zuniga, fleeing the residence. The officers gave foot chase of Mr. Zuniga and were able to apprehend him after a short distance from the residence.
During the investigation into the burglary, the officers determined that Mr. Zuniga, a known Parolee, had entered the residence and confronted a sleeping female occupant in her bedroom.
