At approximately 10:12 this morning Jermaine Louis Atkinson escaped from custody, while being transported to District Court. Atkinson, who was the last inmate in a handcuffed “chain” of inmates that were being led to court, was able to circumvent the handcuffs and flee on foot.

Atkinson was last seen in the 1300 block of Central Avenue and had changed from his County issued orange pants and shirt into grey sweatpants, a white t-shirt and black doo rag.

Atkinson is described as a black male, 6’1” weighing 185 pounds. He was in custody on a $15,000.00 bond for Residential Burglary, Theft By Receiving and Theft of Property over $2500.00.

We would ask that if you know the location of the suspect, or see him, that you call 911 immediately.
