"BIKE THE BRIDGES" Special Olympic Fund Raiser Sunday, June 6, 2010, 08:30 AM

The first ever "Bike the Bridges" is a planned cycling event in an effort to raise money for Special Olympics. The event will take place on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 08:30 AM, and participants will have their choice of either a 25 or 50 mile course. The event will begin at Waterfront Park in Martinez and take riders across the Carquinez Bridge by way of Carquinez Scenic Road, through Benicia, to the new Benicia Bridge, and returning to Waterfront Park in Martinez. This course is roughly 25 miles, and riders have the option to ride the course twice to make it a 50 mile ride.

Organizers of this event include staff and volunteers from the Benicia Police Department, Martinez Police Department, El Cerrito Police Department, Hercules Police Department, Oakland Police Department and representatives from Special Olympics. Participants in the event will be citizens from the Bay Area bicycle community and interested members of the above mentioned Police Departments.
