THE BALLWIN POLICE DEPARTMENT DONATES $1,187 TO MISSOURI SPECIAL OLYMPICS

On September 4, 2009 Chief Steven Schicker presented Missouri Special Olympics Development Director Jennifer Brown a check for $1,187. Ballwin Police Officers raised the money through the sale of Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics t-Shirts and baseball caps. Officers also supported the Missouri Special Olympics by volunteering at the East Area Games which were held in April 2009. Ballwin Police Officers have supported the Missouri Special Olympics for over 20 years.

The Missouri Law Enforcement Torch Run is a campaign to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics. All funds raised, go towards supporting Missouri Special Olympics’ year-round sports training and athletic competition program for over 15,000 athletes across the state. In 2008, law enforcement agencies state-wide raised $1,309,731 for Missouri Special Olympics.
