Advisory

Surge in activity this week regarding subjects selling door to door. Please call police.

Hi residents/subscribers,
The Police department has responded to several calls this week regarding solicitors going door to door. The majority of these companies may be legit and are unaware of the city ordinance. Unfortunately some are scams. It can be difficult to tell if the salesperson is legit. Please call the police. On today's date alone, a felony warrant arrest was made and another was issued a citation for no permit. Magazine sales seem to be the most common complaint. Below is the NIXLE message from this past February.

Recently we have had scams involving solicitors.
Per Grosse Pointe Farms ordinance no one is authorized to sell any goods or services for profit by door to door sales i.e. tree services, snow removal, lawn services, or magazine sales. Only non-profit organizations with an approved city permit may solicit. If you do encounter a solicitor at your door, just ask to see their permit. If there is any concern on the validity of the solicitor please call the police department.
