PRIDE FUNDRAISER A HUGE SUCCESS. OVER 400 PEOPLE ATTEND THE STEAK LUNCHEON.

On Tuesday, August 25th on the lawn of the Norwalk City Hall, the Friends of Norwalk Sheriff's Station held a fund raiser barbeque to raise money for the PRIDE Program. This program is a youth intervention program that targets kids between the ages of 12-16 that are starting to make the wrong choices in life. The program is run by the Norwalk Sheriff's Station Clergy Council with Sgt. Brian Doyle in charge.

The barbeque was a huge success and over 400 people attend the luncheon. Several PRIDE students from prior classes were present and helped to serve the food. Enough money was raised to support the program for another year.

With programs at our schools being cut every year due to budget problems, it is important to have programs that help our kids find their way. We have now completed two PRIDE classes so far, and have helped changed the lives of many students. We have many success stories of students who listened and learned from what was being taught. Unfortunately, we have a few failures as well, but far less than the successful.

I would like to thank all those who came out to help with the barbeque, especially Pastor Arthur McKibben, Pastor Tom Jones, Pastor Riley and his wife Teresa, Norman Aguilar, the PRIDE students and of course "The Friends of Norwalk Sheriff's Station" for making this day possible.
