**San Mateo PD** has an important message for you! Be aware of thieves masquerading as service people and solicitors!

Last week in the Aragon Park / Baywood area, neighbors alerted the SMPD of suspicious solicitors in the area. Officers located two people matching the descriptions of the solicitors. It was determined that they were soliciting for an alarm company outside the area. They did not have the proper permit to allow this activity and officers took appropriate action.

SMPD Wants the community to be aware of the tactics of burglars, including masquerading as service people and solicitors, and "distraction burglars" who offer a service (such as tree trimming, driveway paving, and utility services - often targeting the elderly) and draw the attention of the resident. When the resident becomes ditstracted, accomplices enter and take valuables.
