On Friday, August 28, 2009 shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers from the Boca Raton Police Services Department responded to a report of a strong- arm robbery that had just occurred near the Caldwell Theater, 7901 North Federal Highway.

When officers arrived, they met with the victims, Joan Gold and Lydia Subal. The victims said they were walking from a nearby parking lot heading toward the Caldwell Theater, when two black males approached them from behind. One suspect grabbed Subal’s purse and the second suspect grabbed Gold’s purse and pushed her to the ground. The suspects then ran to a waiting red Nissan Titan pick-up truck. The truck fled westbound down a rear alley then headed northbound on Dixie Highway. Neither victim sustained any physical injuries.

While investigating the robbery, Detective Christian Mammarella was struck by a small dark colored sedan (unrelated to the robbery) on Dixie Highway, just south of Linton Boulevard, in Delray Beach. The vehicle fled the scene and Delray Beach Police are investigating the hit and run. Detective Mammarella was transported to Delray Beach Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

5’7” to 5’9” tall
Clean shaven, neatly dressed
