The railroad crossing at Rt. 54 in Downtown Ashland will be closed on Monday, August 31, 2009 from 9:00am to 3:00pm by CSX for emergency repairs.

The Ashland Police Department was notified this afternoon by CSX of the need for emergency repairs that will affect the crossing at Rt. 54 (England Street) on Monday, August 31, 2009. The repair work will start at 9:00am and will hopefully conclude by 3:00pm in hopes to avoid the morning and evening rush hours.

The Ashland Police Department urges motorists traveling through the area to use alternate routes if they wish to avoid delays. Possible alternate routes include Ashcake Road or Vaughn Road. Although this emergency repair will result in the complete closure of the road, the Police Department and Town Public Works will be working to minimize the inconvenience to our motoring public and the business community.
