Windshield Replacement Scams

The Miramar Police Department would like to advise the community to be aware of windshield replacement scams. Con artists are approaching drivers offering to replace their windshields.

Here are several scams you should watch for:

Inflating Real Damages – Your expensive windshield that may only have a small crack or nick, which could easily be repaired at little cost, is replaced with substandard glass and at a premium.

Replacing Undamaged Windshields – They may offer you incentives to needlessly replace your windshield with the intention of profiting from your insurance company. This could potentially increase your premiums.

Fly-By-Night Operators – They're poorly trained, work out of pickup trucks in parking lots, and disappear after quickly finishing shoddy repairs. They often approach people at car washes, gas stations, store parking lots, etc.

You and your passengers could face a serious safety risk if substandard glass is used or a windshield is installed poorly. Avoid being swindled by choosing a reputable company.
