Stolen Vehicles:

Over the weekend of May 14, 2010, car thieves targeted Grosse Pointe Woods. Three vehicles were stolen and later recovered. The investigation indicates several youths were driven into the community in a stolen minivan and dropped off with instructions to steal vehicles, in particular, Chrysler products. The minivan stolen from another community was also recovered. Officers on patrol stopped and detained 4 individuals in Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores with 2 additional subjects arrested in Detroit hours later by Detroit Police.

The investigation is continuing and is being handled by a joint auto theft task force.

Residents are advised to always be vigilant in locking their car doors, leave exterior lighting on and immediately call police when they observe any suspicious activity.
