Barnegat Township tax bills for 2009 will be mailed starting on Friday, August 21, 2009. Taxpayers will have until Friday, September 25, 2009 to pay their tax bills without any penalty. Payments received after that date will be assessed interest charges as mandated by State law. If mailing tax bills to the Township, please make sure payment is RECEIVED by Friday, September 25, 2009 in order to avoid interest charges.
For residents that filed tax appeals, adjustments to tax bills can only be made after the township received official notification of the judgment from the Ocean County Board of Taxation. If your tax appeal judgment and related notification to the Township occurred after the tax bill mailing date, appropriate adjustments to your tax bill will be made for the fourth quarter tax bill payment.
The Township's overall tax rate for 2009 DECREASED by 4/10 (four tenths) of one cent. For 2009, the overall Township tax rate is 1.627. In 2008, the overal tax rate was 1.631.
